A pir of shoes is always ust as it was when you bought it. Make-up can be put on in a different way every single time.

Cooking

I really like eating, so cooking lots is a natural extension of this. I make pizza every week for the traditional RoseRed household's Buffy and Pizza nights, and I love baking and making soups and stuff like that. I am currently also planning on making edible Christmas presents for people.

Knitting

How girly is this list? I am quite horrified by my own interests. I have, however, started a craze at work for knitting following my purchase of Stitch n Bitch (the best knitting book ever), and have reached the sad stage where I hunt down cheap but lovely yarn on ebay. I'm also knitting presents for the people who aren't getting edible Christmas gifts.

Books

I work in the children's department of a bookshop, which is pretty much my ideal job. I've had lots of more glamourous jobs in the past, and sometimes the low status given to my current job really annnoys me, but children's story time is about a million times more fun than being a corporate lawyer ever was. My favourite sparkly book is Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winnifred Watson, and I started off a sparkly trend with that, too. Sadly, Miss Pettigrew is not stocked in our shop.

Meditation

I am currently working through the exercises inEvolutionary Witchcraft by T Thorn Coyle who is an amazing teacher. And so I've been doing a lot more meditation that usual. It's really boring at the time, but I am noticing the good effects.

Living in an ethical way

This has led to my championing of suchsuch sparkly products as mooncups, lunapads and reuseable cotton wool pads, but it also means walking everywhere, buying from the market and small local shops and trying to stick to fairtrade chocolate. Sometimes I find this hard to reconcile withthe rampant consumerism of my make-up habit, but actually since I started buying quality make-up, I've been buying a lot less, and the sparkly ladies (and men) always pass on stuff that they don't want to other people. And it made me stop being a corporate lawyer and start being a children's bookseller (via a brief disasterous stint at teaching) and so is also lots of fun.

Today's advice to all my readers is:

Don't go outside. It's horrible and cold and raining. You'd be much better off if you stayed inside and had a nice hot drink, and maybe played a board game or listened to some music and sat by the fire. Winter is a time for huddling up, and snuggling, and wearing big thick socks. Toasting marshmallows, or eating cinnamon toast would also be suitable passtimes.

If, for some reason (such as w*rk), you do have to leave the warmth of your home, make sure that come home to a nice warm bath, or a hot water bottle in a nice cosy cover.

Hello Sparkly Ladies

The very lovely Sparkly Ladies (and men) from my Special Online Make-up Discussion Group are probably the only people who will ever read this, so hello lovely make-up people!
